What are dermal Fillers?
Injectable dermal fillers (or simply fillers) are often used to replenish lost facial volume, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, or enhance the lips and cheeks. The face can lack volume for a number of reasons, but significant weight loss and age are the leading causes. The process works by injecting the liquid filler under the skin to fill in areas lacking volume or shape and dramatically reduce wrinkles and creases. Injectable fillers are a great, minimally invasive alternative for Frisco and Plano, TX women and men desiring to smooth wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin to create a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers can also be added to other aesthetic treatments to provide the benefits of a traditional facelift without going under the knife, the risk of scarring, and the associated downtime that follows. There are a variety of fillers that can help meet the expectations and goals of each individual. To find out which products are right for you, we invite you to visit Starwood Med Spa, where our knowledgeable team can help you learn more.

How Do Dermal Fillers Work?
Prior to your injection procedure, one of our experienced team members will meet with you to learn more about your aesthetic goals and determine what product may best deliver them. Our injectable dermal fillers include:
- RADIESSE® — RADIESSE uses calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres in a water-based gel to plump and softens the look of your skin of the face and hands without the time and expense of surgery.
- Restylane® — Restylane treats several issues with a variety of specialized formulas for results that are long-lasting. It uses a synthetic version of the body's natural HA (hyaluronic acid), providing the complexion a natural, softer appearance that is more supple and full. A custom dermal filler plan can treat mild, moderate, or severe facial lines and wrinkles and also add volume to the lips and cheeks.
- RHA — RHA Collection is an FDA-approved filler for dynamic wrinkles and folds. This award-winning filler is designed specifically for facial movements and closely matches your skin's natural HA (hyaluronic acid) to improve your facial features with natural results.
- REVANESSE VERSA™ — REVANESSE VERSA dramatically smooths moderate to severe lines and wrinkles and enhances lost facial volume using hyaluronic acid (HA). It provides immediate, effective results without post-injection swelling, which makes volume improvements more balanced and precise for natural-looking, long-lasting outcomes. The HA in VERSA works to stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin in your skin, providing a refreshing and rejuvenating effect for younger-looking skin. VERSA also contains NO animal products.
For the actual procedure, your team member will use topical numbing cream as a local anesthetic to make the injection more comfortable. Your team member will decide the amount of filler that is needed and will carefully and evenly inject it via a very fine needle. Half or an entire syringe could be used, depending on the desired result.
This procedure can be completed in our Frisco or Plano, TX offices quickly and with very few risks. Because of the anesthetic, the process is typically only mildly uncomfortable and requires little to no downtime afterward. You can expect swelling and bruising immediately after, but these symptoms should fade within a few short days. Typical results can last from three months to a year, depending on the product and the placement of the injection. To maintain optimal results, our team may recommend touch-ups.
Dermal fillers faq
How much do injectable dermal fillers cost?
Your cost for a wrinkle filler will vary depending on the brand used and the amount used. In your consultation, your injector will create a treatment plan that fits your goals. After this, your injector will also give you an estimated cost for your treatment and discuss any current specials we have.
How do I know which dermal filler is right for me?
The type of dermal filler used for your treatment will depend on which area(s) is being treated and your desired outcome. Based on if you want to improve wrinkles or you want to create plumper lips, your injector will listen to your goals before suggesting the filler or fillers that will deliver better results. Now that there are so many dermal fillers available, it can be overwhelming to choose which is ideal for your needs, which is why our team of aesthetic professionals helps to make sure you experience results you love.
What is the difference between wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers?
Wrinkle relaxers, like BOTOX®, treat fine lines and wrinkles (mostly in the forehead and near the eyes) by relaxing the movement of the underlying muscles. Injectable fillers restore volume to your face to fill in fine lines, wrinkles, and some scars. Dermal fillers can also be used to create fuller cheeks and lips and reduce the appearance of aging on the hands.
How long will the results of my dermal filler last?
How long your results last will depend on the type of filler used and what area was treated. For some people, improvements may last as long as one year, whereas some patients might need a repeat treatment after a couple of months. Touch-up injections can be scheduled at our office in order to maintain your results.
What areas of my face can be treated with dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers can improve signs of aging throughout your face by adding volume or smoothing static lines. Dermal fillers can be injected into parentheses, marionette, and corner lines around your mouth and nose. Additionally, they can temporarily add volume to your cheeks and lips.
