What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable wrinkle treatment that works like BOTOX® to reduce and soften dynamic lines and wrinkles on the face. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by recurrent facial movements and expressions (like laughing, smiling, and frowning) that over time make the facial muscles taut. This causes the overlying skin to have an etched line that can be seen even when the face is relaxed. Dysport is specifically created to correct one of the most common dynamic wrinkles: the frown lines that show up as vertical lines between the eyebrows. It temporarily blocks signals to the muscle — so the line is smoother, but with natural-looking results that don't "freeze" your face. How Does Dysport Work?
Dysport injections are performed in one of our procedure rooms following your consultation with a member of our team, lasting about 15 – 30 minutes. A local anesthetic or numbing cream is generally unnecessary because the injections are made using a fine-gauge needle that creates minimal discomfort, but it may be requested. The treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed, and five well-placed injections of Dysport will be administered along the eyebrows, followed by a cold compress to limit swelling and bruising. After your procedure, you may resume daily tasks, but you should avoid taxing activities for at least 24 hours.
Dysport FAQ
How much does Dysport cost?
The overall price is based upon how much Dysport is used to achieve your goals. During your consultation, your injector will develop your unique Dysport treatment plan and then offer a cost estimate. Ask if we have any specials on Dysport, as well as the different payment methods we accept.
What's the difference between Dysport and BOTOX?
Both BOTOX and Dysport are safe and effective to improve dynamic wrinkles. The results of a Dysport injection usually develop faster compared to BOTOX. Additionally, Dysport results tend to last longer compared to other relaxers, and it spreads to a larger coverage area. During your pre-treatment consultation, your injector will decide whether Dysport or another wrinkle relaxer is better for your needs and goals.
Should I get Dysport or a dermal filler?
Simply put, a wrinkle relaxer — like Dysport — treats dynamic wrinkles, whereas a dermal filler addresses static wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles are the result of repetitive movements, like smiling, frowning, laughing, and other facial expressions. Dysport relaxes the muscle under the skin for a smoother appearance. Static wrinkles are caused by a lack of elasticity in the skin, so a dermal filler plumps the area — so it is smooth. In your consultation, your injector will listen to your goals to help you decide whether Dysport, a dermal filler, or a combination of both will deliver your best results.
Can Dysport be combined with other treatments?
Starwood Med Spa performs several cosmetic treatments that can be used to complement the results of your Dysport injection. Depending on your concerns and wants, your personalized plan might include Dysport injections for dynamic wrinkles, a dermal filler for static lines or volume in your lips and cheeks, as well as a skin treatment. Be open during your consultation so we can create a treatment plan that will deliver amazing results.
How often should I get Dysport injections?
Your Dysport results may be visible for 3 – 4 months. During your initial consultation, your injector will suggest how often you should return to our office in Frisco, TX, to maintain your results. You may increase the frequency of your treatments or wait longer after you know how Dysport works on your wrinkles.
